WELCOME TO ZINC 2026!
Our theme this year:
OUTSMARTING THE NARRATIVE: PEOPLE, AI, AND TECHNOLOGY
2026 marks the beginning of a new decade for our beloved IEEE Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies conference — ZINC! This year we embrace a spirit of optimism, highlighting topics of trust and acceptance — in both technology and people. This is especially challenging given the rise of AI in consumer tech, where every device now has the ability to act as a personal AI assistant. Further challenges such as cybersecurity, safety, ethics, and trust are increasingly complex, provoking key questions: Can we trust our devices? Can we trust the people behind the screens? How do we use — and not abuse — technology so that we reap its benefits while avoiding pitfalls? All this and much more will be on this year’s stage in Novi Sad.
2026 opens the second decade of our conference, where industry and academia come together for research presentations, panels, workshops, demos, industry talks, and more — with a special focus on supporting young researchers and project teams. All of this takes place in Novi Sad — the Silicon Valley of Serbia.
Join us with your paper, keynote, or workshop proposal on consumer or related technologies that we increasingly depend on — covering fields such as computer engineering, consumer technology, artificial intelligence, autonomous mobility, cybersecurity, safety, software engineering, hardware design, electronics, new services and platforms, communications and connectivity, as well as various enabling technologies and interdisciplinary forms of research with consumer benefit. All regular submissions in IEEE format (2–6 pages) will be submitted for publication in the IEEE Xplore database. We also invite short talks, project presentations, and industry contributions, submitted in the form of a short abstract only.

Boundaries between disciplines are breached and CE is a perfect example of multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and cross-technology work in action. The seed starts in fundamental sciences, nurtured via tools, management, units and empowered by services and systems, tailored by needs and desires, until it matures to off the shelf products. In this light topics include, but are not limited to the following:
>> Consumer Devices
>> Software for Consumer Devices
>> Communication Technologies
>> Hardware for Consumer Devices
>> Artificial Intelligence and Big Data
>> Internet of Things
>> Software Engineering
>> Virtual and Augmented Reality
>> Enabling Technologies
>> Computer Engineering
>> Gaming and Entertainment
>> CE Sensors and Mems
>> Smart Environments
>> Consumer Healthcare
>> Security and Privacy
>> Automotive Solutions
>> Images and Video
>> User Experience and HCI
>> Energy Management for Consumer Devices
>> Branding and Marketing Aspects
>> Energy management for consumer devices
>> Social implications of consumer technology
>> Development Processes and Management
>> Automotive solutions
>> Student session
Q: How do I know that my submission is with the scope of the ZINC?
A: If you can write a paragraph with a consumer in mind – then yes, by all means, you are at the right place!
IN ALL TRACKS
The ‘Industrial Categories’ is meant for papers that are submitted by non-academic, such as for example, but not limited to engineers working in industry. These papers focus more on practical oriented contents such as implementation of related topics. Papers for the Industrial Tracks will be reviewed by qualified industry reviewers for industry relevancy for its content. Authors of these papers may retain their copyrights.
To support the experience sharing and to popularize the applied sciences, we are introducing lightning talks – 5 to 10 minutes presentations of best practices, techniques, ideas, and tricks. For lightning talks no associated academic paper is required.
SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY PARK NOVI SAD
The Science and Technology Park Novi Sad is one of the most important hubs for innovation, research, and collaboration between academia and industry in Serbia. As a modern center of knowledge and entrepreneurship, the park brings together startups, research teams, and technology leaders, providing them with support in developing ideas and reaching global markets.
For this reason, the ZINC 2026 Conference will be hosted at the Science and Technology Park Novi Sad, creating an inspiring environment where science, technology, and industry converge. This location symbolizes the progress and innovative spirit of Novi Sad, making it the ideal venue for gathering researchers, experts, and leaders in consumer technologies from around the world..
